We are looking to grow.
There is a strong market for energy efficient lighting in both new facilities and in retrofit situations. Much of the power consumed in commercial buildings is due to the lighting. The market for 400W and above is the highest offender of power consumption and stands to receive the highest benefit by utilizing LED technology. Installations that involve higher electricity rates, long on-times, high or difficult to reach areas or installations prone to abuse are where the biggest savings can be realized.
The LED market is growing rapidly with the vast majority of players chasing the high-volume low-margin commodity market such as bulbs and 150/250W replacement fixtures. Optilume is focused on the continued development of LED solutions to replace the 400W traditional luminaires and above and is well positioned by incorporating its innovations and patent pending technology into our proprietary designs.
The LED market is positioned for continued growth.
"It is hard to imagine a major market that will change more in the next decade than the more than $100 billion international lighting market."
"As a nation we spend about one-quarter of our electricity on lighting, at a cost of more than $37 billion annually, according to the US Department of Energy.
Lighting accounts for the single largest portion of the electric bills for commercial users, (30%) which means that lighting can be a big contributor to reducing energy costs."
